Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then found many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
